y’all know i had to really wonder about the last year that i’ve had?

seems like in the last 12 calendar months, i’ve just seen and done so many things.

I’ve woken up in the morning in the Hindu Kush
Climbed on a medieval city wall in Germany
Flown in a sail plane on the North shore of Oahu
Seen the sunset while in Atlantic City
Eaten a cheese Steak in Philly
Eaten Mexican food on the Riverwalk in San Antonio
Seen a tank roll out of a snow laden forest, cross a dirt road, and go into the forest on the other side of the road.
Driven 200K on the Autobahn
Been to a stripper bar with a girl
Gotten a ticket for going 83 MPH in central Texas
Had a beer in a real Saloon in Tombstone
Seen a Japanese couple on their honeymoon in Waikiki, she was still in her wedding dress.
Seen a partial lunar eclipse over the desert of Iraq.
Seen a pillar of fire from a suicide bomb attack intended for the VP of the USA
Bought a handmade cuckoo clock in the Black Forest, 3 of them actually
Haggled over Persian silk carpets in the Middle East
Held a Turkish ‘Meerschaum’ pipe in my hands
Bought golden slave bracelets handmade in India
Been awarded a Master’s Degree
Seen a staged gunfight in the real OK Corral
Flown 1st Class, flown business, flown coach, flown in a net seat in a military cargo plane
Seen the sun set over the Pacific ocean
Watched a gangfight in a restaurant
Told an asshole he was rude, to his face
Run for cover from rockets aimed at me
Bought scarfs from little Afghani girls while their war widow mom watched on. Most of them are still in their wrappings in my dining room
Held a fistful of real, 2-4 carat, high quality emeralds straight from the Panjshir
Made a beautiful girl smile
Complimented a stranger
Bought a pitcher of beer for random soldiers in a bar
Seen a jackal, fox, and a coyote all in the wild
Tasted the oktober brew in Oktoberfest, Munchen
Given my sisters stupidly expensive presents for Christmas
Been serenaded by a little 3 year old girl in Germany
Had lunch with a Hizballah member
Seen a veritable gaggle of Blondes in mini skirts in the Pope’s hometown
Been accosted by street handlers in the Czech republic
Seen a viper in the wild
Broken my Ramadan fast (by law) repeatedly while in Kuwait (This one is stretching the 12 months)
Had a stalker who thought I was a hooker
Bought a 15+pound chunk of Lapis Lazuli in Afghanistan
Bought a surf board in Hawaii
Had a beer in Plzn
Had a beer with an Australian girl who organizes hikes in China for a living
Made a beautiful girl cry
Practiced Martial Arts
Had a jaeger bomb with a beautiful blonde on 6th St in Austin, Texas
Bought diamond stud earrings for a girl, and then didn’t give them to her
Seen Saudi border guards
Been in a sandstorm
Watched my Dad shoot rats with an air rifle
Stayed up for more than 72 hours straight
Told a muslim that islam isn’t a religion, and meant it
Had a girl in a Kimono rub my back
Sat in the seat of a Mig-15 Fagot
Stood in a German castle
Rented a mustang
Been in 130+ degree heat
Helped a friend move
Bought flowers for a girl
Helped one of my Nieces learn to read
Held a rocket launcher in my hands
Had coffee with a girl from Kyrgyzistan
Bought coffee from a girl from Kathmandu
Bought an old friend a lapdance
Heard gunfire and mortars in baghdad

phew! i’m sure there are more!
