Lent

Filed under: Religion — mlah @ 12:21 am

last year i tried to give up meat for lent.

it didn’t workout. after nearly passing out while going down some stairs, coworker/friends insisted i have some protein.

yeah, i ate pistachios. i looked for protein bars and the like. just didn’t work for me. i’m a carnivore.

i made it 10 days though.

this year i considered trying again. at least trying to beat 10 days.

but i decided to take a different tack.

i don’t really drink that much. so giving up alcohol should be easy. but for the entire 40 days…..

and i’m going to try and give up cussing.

we’ll see how far i make it.

EXTRA: moonbatty purposely tried to keep me chatting all night so that i wouldn’t post tonight. she knows i have a nasty little non-liberal statement to make. and she was trying to keep me quiet. so i guess she succeeded.

but only this night, the first night of lent. Ash Wednesday. the day after fat tuesday.

tomorrow maybe i’ll get my defense of mandatory abortions up.

  2. Maybe you should give up talking to Moonbatty for lent. She seems like an awful influence on you. Keeping you up too late, and all. ;P

  4. Moonbatty, some people consider it a sport to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Me, I don’t bother- but it’s sometimes fun to watch.

  5. here’s the thing mlah: giving up meat cold turkey, no pun intended, confuses the fuck out of your body, esp. if you are eating (or eating more) protein-rich foodstuffs that you normally do not eat. that is why anyone who wants to make the switch to vegetarianism will typically cut out one meat at a time and incorporate other protein-rich foodstuffs slowly, until they are all replaced. expecting your body to extract protein from tofu when you never eat that shit is quite silly.
