i have dishnetwork. i really love the recording function it has. they call it a dvr, but it is increasingly becoming known as tivo. tivo actually does more than my dvr does.

i need the tivo. stations are starting to mees with times their shows start and finish. just a little and not all of the time. just when i want to record.

case in point. f’n local san anotnio pre-empted the amazing race 9 last night for a pre-game to a spurs clippers game. who cares about basketball? i mean, go spurs go! but i have no idea how they’re even doing. i care that much. it pissed me off that my show got preempted, but not that much. i just thumbed through the browser and found TAR9 at 2 in the morning. same channel. so i set it to record.

this morning i try to watch it. it started 10 minutes late. 10 minutes into the timeslot i set it to record. so i didn’t get to see the last ten minutes of the show.

that pissed me off.

fx does this too, almost every week with ‘the shield’. i knew it and adjusted the time recorder accordingly.

why are tv stations messing with me? because ya know, they’re only doing it to me.

so what do ya’ll think? should i keep this as one of my available skins? maybe, say the default? some of you have said you prefer this to my usual two.

moonbatty swears she can make the cookies work so that you’ll actually be able to pick whichever of the three you like and use that one. i plan on making a couple as well.

well, lots of people talked about the port deal. a united arab emirates owned company wanted to buy a company that ran 6 ports in the u.s.. it was shortly scrubbed after a public furor. president bush wanted to go ahead with the deal. but strangely, pretty much both sides of the political divide were against the deal. so congress actually accomplished something. think about that for a minute.

congress actually did something.

first, the people who are/were for the port deal argue that the only reason not to allow the uae control is racism. it seems like they were trying to make more of a point than to actually weight the postives and negatives of the situation. they claim racism after they point at the virtual lack of any oppostion to britain running our ports.

is that racism? we share lots of defense and security measures with britain. they share theirs with us. if we allowed chinese control of a port, and forbade the emiraties, they might have a point. but because it is britain, who we have enjoyed a ’special relationship’ with since wwii, the argument holds no water.

port deal. my position. don’t ask yourself if the uae should be allowed. ask yourself if ANY country should be allowed. it’s a simple issue for me. no country but britain. well, maybe australia and canada. but i’m not so sure about canada anymore.

any guy would already have been cubed. any non, or semi attractive girl would get less time, but would still be convicted.

i just got around to watching harry potter and the goblet of fire. not a bad show. the first was a little campy. at least by my standards. as they get older…. is this the fourth movie? their movies are leaving fairy tale land and trying to enter the world of fantasy.

maybe not much difference? watch lord of the rings again. or even read the books, plus the hobbit, and if you have any balls, the silmarillion.

then there’s emma watson. can’t wait til she gets of age. no. i wasn’t one of the weirdos who had a countdown to the olson twins 18th birthday. like them, or emma being of legal age makes any difference to me. i’ll never cross paths with any of them.

but there’s always the chance she’ll fall on hard times and wind up in b movies.

hmmmm. maybe they call them b movies because once famous actresses invariably wind up showing their boobies in them.

and of course, i’m only mentioning boobies because moonbatty posted about them, and because i know jihadis wilt at the site of a perfect pair.

so what do y’all think of the propsed construction of walls along our southern border?

personally, i really do believe that we have to take control of our border. if we do not, we cease to exist as a nation. now i know some of y’all are posing as post-modernists in an effort to deconstruct the state. but put that aside.

what do you think about the sovereignty of our nation? and what about our right as a nation to control our border? this is not a question of whether or not we should allow immigration, but rather a question about whether or not we should control it.

it’s alway nice when you get the call to go down to the riverwalk for a little mexican food. an old friend from up in dc gave me a ring tonight.

no spanky story, sorry, i was drinking margaritas at casa rio.

heh! i have my laptop up and networked! now i just have to get all of my software on it.

that means i can blog from my living room now. y’all are going to see a lot more activity now.

last year i tried to give up meat for lent.

it didn’t workout. after nearly passing out while going down some stairs, coworker/friends insisted i have some protein.

yeah, i ate pistachios. i looked for protein bars and the like. just didn’t work for me. i’m a carnivore.

i made it 10 days though.
