Music Downloads

Filed under: Misc — mlah @ 5:27 pm

they charge a buck a song.

and you only get to download it once. if you mess up, you have to pay to download it again.

let’s think about this.

if i buy a cd, i get an average of around, oh, say….. 15 songs?

and that cd will cost me around what? 15 bucks?

the quick math is easy.

a buck a song.

now, since we’re thinking about this, let’s compare the two.

a buck a song, downloaded from the internet, or, i can get the whole album, hardcopy, for around a buck a song.

same thing?

uh-uh.

if i buy the cd, the company has done the leg work of making a cd sleeve, burning the thing, and shipping it out.

if i download it, i have to burn it to my own cd-r, that i have to buy in addition to paying for the music..

the only benefit i can see to downloading at the moment is that i could choose to download only the songs i want.

i’m waiting for the price to drop. a buck is too much.

on a side note, i refuse to watch the video placed on the net by those assholes who killed Nick Berg. i want their asses dead. i feel no pity or shame for saying it either.

  1. I concur completely with your last comment. In fact I think we should go in to the cities where these atrocities are occurring and raze them and sow them with salt and pig parts. The “innocent civilians” are obviously harboring the terrorists and we are fighting for our very survival, like Israel. No mercy on the terrorists. savagemod99

  2. How fucking weird….I agree with your dad! 🙂 I’m was sitting here reading William Daugherty’s account of being a hostage for 444 days in Tehran. He relates that the students also took over the British embassy, but there was no popular support. They then took over two Iraqi consulates, so Saddam took over the Iranian embassy in Iraq. The Iraqis were immediately released. Why didn’t we kidnap the Ayatollah and start from there? We’re dealing with a culture that only understands power and revenge – they’ve said so themselves. Let’s kidnap some Shia clergy and start “negotiating” with those cowardly terrorists shits. No one ever fucked with the Soviets – they knew the consequences. If we can’t be respected then let’s be feared – let the world know that if you harm one hair on an American’s head we’re going to come in and kill everyone involved – collateral damage be damned.

I realize this is more like a post, but, as horrible as I feel for Nicholas Berg and his family, wtf was he doing in Iraq? There are a ton of folks over there right now (Malcolm Nance for instance) who have no reason, or the proper experience, to be there.

On the other topic – iTunes sucks. You can’t download the songs you download to anything but an ipod. I want my dollar back.

  4. Ya know you can get it illegally (like me) off a program you can download called Shareaza. Or if you want to stay under the radar of the music industry, Rhapsody only charges 79 cents a song.

  5. john, i would never advocate anything illegal.

paying for the music…. hey free is cool, but the prospect of not worrying about litigation over illegal downloads would be worth some money. it’s just going to have to be a better deal than what they are offering.

  6. As for the video of Nick Berg…it doesn’t need to be out there on the net. It only serves to fuel the fanaticism and perverse pleasure people are getting from it.

  7. When the buck a song thing started, I thought it was pretty cool, instead of paying for a whole cd…but if the music’s any good, you’re gonna want the whole thing anyway. So I try to wait until the fad passes and it’s in the used cd store. Though I did have my laptop crash and lost a bunch of music files – Musicmatch let me download them again no charge, even though it’s not “policy.”
